Coming Soon: "The Power of Music in Education" by Olushola John Adebowale (MC Confess)

The Power of Music in Education book cover by Olushola Adebowale (MC Confess), featuring children playing musical instruments

We are delighted to share some good news: a new book, The Power of Music in Education, is coming soon from Olushola John Adebowale, popularly known as MC Confess, Founder and President of NISMCAA.

What the book is about

The book is subtitled Supporting Learning in Mathematics and English and Building Stronger Communities. Drawing on his years of work with schools, teachers and students through NISMCAA, the author looks at what music can contribute to a child's education, and he is careful to separate personal experience from what research actually shows.

Inside, readers will find:

  • Music, mathematics and English: practical ways rhythm, song and listening can support number work, reading and language learning.
  • Discipline, memory and focus: how the habit of rehearsal builds patience, teamwork and the courage to try again.
  • Building stronger communities: the role of parents, families, government and communities in giving music its place in school life.
  • Ready-to-use lesson ideas for teachers: classroom activities that need little more than voices, paper and a willingness to try, plus a practical plan for a school term.
  • Wellbeing, technology and honouring teachers: chapters on music and child development, technology in the music classroom, and the teachers behind every performing student.

The book is written mainly for teachers, parents, school leaders and education decision-makers. You do not need to read music to follow it.
